mia susan amir was born in Israel/Palestine and currently lives between Oakland CA, and Vancouver, BC, Coast Salish Territories. amir is a writer, performer, vocalist, facilitator and community educator who holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Mills College. She is currently working on a memoir entitled A Memory of Sand and Silence. In this work she explores the way in which large sociopolitical and cultural events become expressed in small spaces like the home and body through intergenerational transfer. She is the co-editor an anthology-in-progress entitled Transforming Grief: Personal and Communal Loss in the Work of Remaking the World.
